Casen lost his first tooth!!

So....I cant believe it Casen lost his first tooth. About two weeks ago I noticed his tooth was looking a little weird. I was so surprised to find it was loose. It has driven Casen crazy for the last few days so finally we just pulled it. He was so excited for the tooth fairy to come. She came last night and brought him a dollar. He thinks the whole tooth fairy thing is great.

Casen's Tag

1. Casen is very excited about turning 5. He asks me all the time how long until his birthday (April 5).
2. He loves all of the sports he has been involved in (floor hockey, swimming, mighty mites, etc.) He is also looking forward to playing baseball this summer. He has watched Skip play a lot so he thinks it is pretty cool he is old enough to play now.
3. Casen seems to be enjoying preschool. When I ask him about school, I always hear about lunch or playing (in the gym or outside). I think he spaces out the educational things he does. Good thing he brings home his work or I would be wondering if they did any.
4. He loves to do things outside. In the dead of winter he will ask his dad if they can go outside to play basket ball. He is always quick to volunteer to help shovel the drive way as well. I don't know how much help he is, but still he enjoys it.
5. Casen is very, very tall for his age. Everyone is always surprised how young he is. He currently wears size 7 pants, 8 shirts, and size 2 in shoes.
6. He really enjoys playing with his friends. I must be boring because he is always wanting to hang out with other people.
7. Casen really misses Utah.....our family and his old friends. I am surprised how much he still talks about Utah. We have been telling him it will probably be Christmas before we go back again...He doesn't really understand. He thinks he can just jump on a plane and it is as easy as that...He also thinks family should jump on planes weekly to come see him....He doesn't get how hard this could possibly be.
8. CASEN IS ONE OF THE BIGGEST JOYS OF MY LIFE....I LOVE HIM SO MUCH!!

Jace's Tag

1. Jace is my little wild child...He is constantly on the go and never slows down.
2. He has learned a few words/phrases. His favorites right now are "Oh Man" and "Look at that". He says these a thousand times a day...not totally clear yet but he says them in the right tone of voice. It is so fun.
3. Jace absolutely loves his brother. He gets so excited when we go to pick Casen up from school.
4. He is not a picky eater. He will try anything, however if he doesn't like it...it will come right back out.
5. Jace is a little dare devil. He will pretty much do anything. We even took him down some of the big slides at Splash Lagoon. We later decided this was probably to much for a 1 1/2 year old.
6. Jace loves balls. He is pretty good at throwing them to Skip. He still needs a little work at catching them. We think he is going to be our little ball player.
7. He is a great sleeper (at least better than his older brother). He will sleep from about 8:00pm to 7:30 am without a peep, usually that is.
8. HE IS ONE OF THE BIGGEST JOYS OF MY LIFE. I LOVE HIM A TON!!!

Happy Easter!!

Good News.....The Easter Bunny found us!

This is Casen's Easter basket. He got a Shake n Go airplane and some candy. Casen loves his plane and has pretty much crashed it into everything in my house.

This is Jace's Easter basket. He got a swing for our play ground and some candy. We will hope it warms up some time soon so he can use his present.

The Big Egg Hunt!!

This is Easter morning. The boys are looking for all of the eggs the Easter Bunny hide.

Our Florida Trip....Miami Seaquarium

Our Florida Trip.....The Beach

Here are a few pictures of the kids at the beach....

Our Florida Trip.....Alligator Alley

One thing that really surprised me about Florida was the Alligators. They swim/walk around in the open (not like at the zoo where they are caged in). Jenn took us to Alligator Alley which is this area of water where there are a lot of alligators. Scary.......

Our Florida Trip....A morning at the pool

So the first morning in Florida, we went for a swim in one of Jenn's friends pool. It was so nice.

My Poor Jace!!

So, here is the story with Jace. Jace first started acting sick on Wednesday. I could tell he was sick and he really would not eat anything but he was doing OK. He then started having diarrhea on Thursday and was not really eating at all but he still seemed to be doing OK. Then Friday morning got here. At this point Jace was vomiting and having very bad diarrhea. He was so sick that he could not even sit up. If you lifted his arm up and let go it would immediately fall down. He was very lifeless.

Because of all of this we took him to the emergency room Friday morning. He was so sick that he did not even fight the ER staff when they were doing things to him (putting an IV in, lab draws, finger stick, chest x ray, physical exam, etc.) He would wake up briefly and then go back to sleep (not a good sign). The ER got his labs back and were able to tell that he was very dehydrated, his blood glucose level was also very low. They gave him dextrose (sugar through the IV) to help bring this level back up. They then told us that he would need to be admitted. We were in the ER for hours. They wanted to make sure his blood sugar was high enough before they admitted him to the floor. They were so worried about getting this up that they raised it to 277 (more than double what it should be).

Finally we got up to the floor. They continued to give Jace IV fluids and also gave him IV potassium. After having an IV all day and night, on top of the meds given we had our Jace back to himself by morning. I was blown away how fast everything worked. He went from being extremely sick to almost completely better by morning. They made Jace stay until after he had lunch and kept it down and then we were able to be discharged. I was soooooo glad about going home.

We still need to watch Jace and make sure he takes in enough fluid so he does not get dehydrated again (he still has severe diarrhea). I think we should be on the road to recovery (just in the nick of time because we leave for Florida on Monday).
